Hi Gilberto and wife,
A quick hello and welcome from myself and my wife Bubble.
Our circumstances are totally different from yours but suffice to say we are delighted that we are out of 'd troof' and we have never been happier.
Looking forward to learning more about you.

What reaction would the JW's have if you walked into the Kingdom Hall?
by JH in.
for those who didn't attend meetings for a while, imagine that you just walk into your kingdom hall 10 minutes before a meeting.
what would be their reaction?

My mum and dad would love it, my ex and my wife (Bubbles) ex would hate it. Mind you my ex doesn't go anymore and Bubbles ex has just got remarried so he will be deliriously happy in his life now won't he?
Seriously I can never ever see myself going back - I hated it for the 40 years I was in it! -

Yeah London USED to be known as the smoke - back in the 30's. You are not seriously saying that the grimy industrialised northern cities have a good pollution record are you?!
Formula 1 doesn't in real terms give off much pollution but it does showcase technological and engineering excellence.
I went to Cape Town for my honeymoon with Bubble in 2004 - I can assure you Cape Town is wonderful and the coastline dramatic, and it's warm!!!
You are right about the Ozzies, I'm definitely stopping now. we've been invited round to a neighbours house at 4 for a nice meal. Oh, southern hospitality - I suppose you think that that is an oxymoron!
Anyway Dansk, thanks for the banter and I really hope that Bubble and I will be seeing you soon at your aposta curry - obviously because we both are ex Witto's we do have a lot in common despite our geographical and cultural differences.
All the best,
Ian,

Yorkshire! Dansk, how could you praise Yorkshire? What has happened to the great red rose/white rose divide? Or is it a case of clubbing together?
Of course any southerners who move north are going to say that they wouldn't move back down south - they would never admit they had made a mistake and the fact is they pobably couldn't afford to make the return trip. As I mentioned before, the laws of supply and demand dictate prices and that's why everything is more expensive here. If everyone really loved the north it would be as expensive there.
It's the same mentality as those that go and live in Australia - they all say it's great but where is the culture, the history, even the manners?
Actually I better stop now or I'm going to alienate the whole world!
Cape Town is a lovely place to be all year round - see ya around!!!
P.S I too had to take a break as I was watchting the Grand Prix - a multi multi million pound sport boasting the highest technology known to man - the majority of the teams are based in Southern England, in fact not one team is based futher north than Milton Keynes! -

Oh and finally Dansk I've just looked at the weather forecast. Out of the next five days it's going to rain on three of them in Manchester and not once in London, and it's going to be at least 3 degrees warmer down south - I rest my case!

Yeah I'll give you that one about the scousers Dansk - couldn't agree more.
Some Southerners do want to move up north, usually to retire and buy a massive house with their money. I must admit you don't get so much for your money down here but that is because of the simple law of economics - supply and demand. Most people want to come and live in the south. There are one bedroom flats in Docklands renting out at over 1k/week - that's because Canary Wharf now challenges the City in being the financial center of England/Britain/Europe.
By the way going back to your boast about Manchester hosting the Commonwealth Games - everyone knows they got that as a consolation prize for being unable to land the Olympics despite trying again and again and again.
It's a fact that the IOC would not consider a bid for the Olympics to be held in Britain unless there was a London bid. Oh, there was a London bid and we won it! Bad luck! -

Yeah all the guidebooks are probably written by southerners - that's because nobody up north can write properly!
The Lake District is ok I suppose - a few hills and loads of sheep and downmarket hotels, plus it always rains!
It always rains in Manchester as well doesn't it Dansk - that's probably the cause of all the northerners deep seated insecurities which makes them slag the south of - it's called jealousy!
I'll let you know very soon about the aposta curry, my wife will have to try and get that day off work (an alien concept to most in the north - that's where my 40% tax goes, to pay for the northeners giro cheques!). -

Dansk, stop trying to mislead everyone - all the guide books are right. London is the place to be and be seen. Imagine someone from New York returning home and saying 'Ive just been to Manchester', nobody would know what they were on about!
I have many friends overseas and they all either have visited London and loved it or they want to visit London. None of them have any interest in the North, in fact they want to bypass it to get to Scotland. Thank goodness for flights from Londons 4 (four) international airports all with connections direct to Glasgow.
And as for scenery, what about the delightful south coast, the wonderful villages like Henley on Thames and the genteel countryside of the home counties. Quite a long way from Moss Side!
It's such a shame that us Southerners can be so unbiased and appreciate culture from around the world whereas you northerners seem to be stuck in the past and view the whole world through your tiny closed minds!
As for the aposta curry I might have to have second thoughts after writing all this - a punch on the nose from you might hurt!
p.s. I hope you are taking all this in the spirit with which it was intended.
Regards
SAB
